THE SOLUTION
Arms & Armour of India, Nepal & Sri Lanka is a visually-driven and broad-based introduction to the unique world of arms and armour of the Indian region, encompassing India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, areas with strong martial traditions.
At nearly 400 pages long, it provides an exhaustive overview of types of arms and armour, with geographical and historical context via the use of illustrated maps, their decoration and methods of adornment, as well as the iconographic and religious symbology. The 70+ weapon illustrations from the glossary section adorn the front and back covers in gold foil, laid out symmetrically in reference to typical weapon displays. The illustrated Chillanum also featured on Dr Reddys business card to marry his book with his online collection

I designed a flexible grid system for the catalogue, providing structure and consistency whilst allowing the layout to excel with a wide variety of copy lengths and photography requirements.

THE BRIEF
After my discovery call with Hanna, TSHAD's founder, I came away with two requests; the branding should tell people it's a pottery business, and it needs to have a slug. I shared my initial mood board with Hanna and we worked together to choose a direction that matched the brief.
THE SOLUTION
I worked closely with Hanna to first get the right tone of voice. Her studio makes beautiful handcrafted ceramics, but most importantly they are playful, experimental and never boring. This paved the way to design a slug with wonky eyes, a confident black outline and a speech bubble. Much like her pottery, the slug will be decorated by a rotating library of glazes from her studio, making the brand feel memorable, but never static.")

For the primary word mark I used negative space to hide a moon within the letter K without compromising the legibility of the character.
The secondary logo depicts a potter forming the shape of a crescent moon between their hands. The logo being used as a stamp was a key feature in the design process as it required a specific line weight to hold its form when pressed into the clay, and fired.

I designed a logo based around the owner's dog and Fluffies' mascot, Pepper. She is the centre of the brand and is present on every outing, greeting walking buddies with a lick and a sniff, and the identity needed to reflect that.
The business is small and personal and it's paramount that customers know their pooch is in safe hands. The logo is not only playful with Pepper's tongue hanging out, but she is instantly recognisable as she is a rare Labrador cross. The brand colours are also taken from Pepper, with two contrasting greys, the gold from her fringe and the slobbery pink from her tongue.
The wordmark features a fluffy 'U' for brand recognition when used in isolation, without the Pepper icon or supporting wordmark.
