How Microseeka started their wordpress theme design journey
Who are you known as?
Coast2Coast Bike Ride
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I am bicycling across America this summer and need a beautiful website to host my blog. Each day on the road I tell the story of what happened and post the pictures from the day.
This site will host my 2 other previous bike journals from 2005 and 2007. Only the 2005 is currently uploaded.
Aside from the travel journals, I will also be using this site to write about bicycle touring generally and use it to create an authority site around long distance cycling.
The target audience is pretty broad. The site is read by all types of people who I meet on the road, other touring cyclists, people who don’t even ride bikes, men, women aging from 18 and above. I swear a lot in my blog writing so its definitely not for kids.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the WordPress theme?
I have been using the same goofy robot guy on a bicycle for the past bike tours. I recently got some new updated graphics created.
The blue image with his face is my logo and I branding everything with that image.
I love this goofy logo and am ok with the site looking goofy as well as long as it’s well designed and functions well.
I tend to like simple sans serif fonts for the paragraph text of the website. I also like the text to be a little bit larger. I write with H-Tags a lot so have a strong bold font would be good. TypoGraphica is a font that I use a lot on my graphics. If I could get a similar font for H-tags that would be awesome.
Any colors used has to be masculine and or subtle.
The road is a constant theme throughout the bike trip. I am ok with using stock imagery of beautiful landscapes and long beautiful roads. Maybe even maps or topography.
I like the navigation bar the way it is currently setup.
I would like a really easy to navigate home screen that quickly explains that im bicycling across America, collects an email, gives links to the latest blogpost from this summers tour and here are additional blog posts about bike touring…
Include a large footer with typical footer data.
What to avoid
I hate sliders with images on them.
I will monetize this website with google adsense. Maybe that is something to consider while designing the pages.
Feel free to review the existing site and use any graphics that are currently on there.
