Meltzer Lippe is a cutting edge law firm combining the best features of small firms with top level talent from major metropolitan law firms. Meltzer Lippe functions in a full range of business areas: tax, corporate, real estate, trusts and estates, labor and employment and commercial litigation. Meltzer Lippe attracts clients who are private business owners, corporate executives working at both public and private companies, real estate developers, venture capitalists and individuals on Long Island, throughout the United States and throughout the world. Our website tells visitors about our practice areas and our attorneys.
Simple, elegant, sophisticated, sharp, bold, communicative, informative are adjectives that keep popping up.The website will host a lot of original content -- videography and photography produced in house -- and the design should reflect that.The New York times iPad lay out is cool, the New Yorker magazine is what our old site was based on years ago. A true information hub. A colorful but not overwhelming presentation.
The main goal of the homepageis to provide information to clients and potential clients while conveying that Meltzer Lippe consists of attorneys with more advanced degrees than most other law firms, and practitioners who have been trained at the nations largest law firms. Our collective professional and academic intelligence is a significant source of pride and should be a theme represented by the web-design. HOWEVER, we do not take our selves too seriously, are not arrogant and have a sense of humor - traits some find uncommon in attorneys (case in point: see cartoons on current website). The homepage should direct visitors to attorney bios, reserve a section for sharing the latest developments at the firms and in the news, be able to accommodate video and photography and provide a call to action that is straightforward, but tasteful.
What to avoid
WE DO NOT WANT TO LOOK LIKE ANOTHER LAW FIRM WEBSITE! No pictures of attorneys standing around in a group, or sitting at a table looking serious, or standing in front of books. No thank you to skylines and buildings, to gavels and courthouses, and to proto-typical law firm website imagery.
No idea is too odd. Think intelligent, but distinct. Be direct, be clean, be bold.
