In reference to the brand name, the design incorporates a globe and the simplified head of a dog. A simplified cat head is featured in negative space between the two. The shapes are mature and serious in tone rather than whimsical or childish. A classic retro/vintage undertone helps the design convey attributes such as authentic, pragmatic, honest that capture the organization's triple mission of research, education and financial assistance. This triple approach is also subtly referenced in the grid on the globe.
A combo of serif and sans serif typefaces provides an aesthetics of tradition, authority and professionalism with a clean, minimal, modern note.
