Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The brand, Simply Solved by McKenna, is a line of products that offers simple solutions to everyday problems. The products are sold via QVC and big box retail as well as some department stores. This particular product is called "Beauty Benefits Sleep Pillow". It's a memory foam pillow that is ergonomically designed to reduce the occurrence of fine lines and wrinkles from forming while we sleep. The patented contoured design cradles and supports the head and neck to minimize the possibility of direct facial contact with the pillow. The pillow is encased in a satin cover that helps protect the style and texture of your hair while you sleep. It will be sold worldwide to women age 30+. QVC, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Nordstrom are just a few of the target distribution outlets.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I'm looking for a retail packaging design that exudes beauty and elegance in a simple and clean way. I'm envision a high gloss white box with metallic silver and soft lilac accents. The overall feel of the package should be soft and feminine, yet it should also feel slightly clinical in that the product is endorsed by renowned dermatologists. I've attached a sketch idea--but please don't feel limited by it--I'm open to any ideas that convey what I've described above. Package will need the product name, BEAUTY BENEFITS Memory Foam Pillow and the tag line, "For A More Beautiful Nights Sleep." There should be a cut out clear plastic window of some kind that would showcase the memory foam pillow inside. A small circular cutout would allow the consumer to actually feel the satin pillow case. The pillow itself should be either white or a soft lilac to complement the package design. The product features and benefits should be listed as bullet points on the front of the package--as shown on the sketch. I'd also like to include a photo of the pillow in use (attached). The photo should have a white background with no border--should bleed into the packaging as shown on the "Caress" Pillow packaging I've attached. There should be before and after photos on the right end of the box with a product description above it (attached). There should also be a photo of the stand alone pillow (attached)--can be on the side or front of the box. Though the photo shows the pillow in a dusty rose color--I'd like it to be lilac or white instead. The pillows dimensions are 17"L x 12"W x 4"D. The font used on the box should be clean and simple--something that complements the logo font.
In the BEAUTY BENEFITS Logo itself--I envision "Beauty" being lilac (attached) and "Benefits" being metallic silver (polished, not brushed). I see "Memory Foam Pillow" directly under it in darker lilac or something complementary--very thin clean font. See attached logo idea--feel free to use your creativity here if you have any other ideas. I've attached a couple photos of sample packaging from other pillows on the market--you might use these as a guide--I like the way the photo on the Caress Pillow bleeds into the packaging (with no border). I also like that the side panels are blue--though in our case, I'd like them to be lilac. I'd like to have a QR code positioned somewhere on the front or side panel of the packaging.
