michelle jx got their new product label by running a design contest:
Emerging Beauty Brand Needs Sweet, Inspiring Labels
Check out michelle jx's Product label contest…
Cosmetics & Beauty
We sell artisan handmade, upscale-yet-fun bath and beauty products to women ages 25 - 50. The ladies in our target audience are crazy-busy and consider a bubble bath, a glass of wine and a good book their escape from the real world, and they're willing to pay for it. Looking for a way to balance upscale with whimsical!
What's your vision?
We need new labeling for our products that better reflects the target audience for our brand. We want a look that reflects artisan handmade, as opposed to cheaply handmade! **Once we select a design we will have additional (immediate) work to create a package for our soap with the same design.** We have several different products with different sized labels. We'd like one design that we can use across our product line. **This contest is for two labels of the same design.** We're looking for labels for the following products. I've attached a photo of the containers, plus a document that contains the specs of each container. • Silky Body Crème - 8oz container - 9"x2" label. • Solid Lotion (tube) - 4.75"x2.5" *Note: The solid lotion is in a tube, and the writing can be either vertical or horizontal. I'm not sure which I'd prefer, so have fun! Per the FDA, each full label must contain the product name, address of manufacturer, ingredients, weight and directions. We would also like space for a UPC on the solid lotion tubes. Font size: The FDA requires certain type sizes for design elements based upon the lower case letter "o." Ingredients must be not less than 1/32" on all products except the full-size sugar scrub/body creme, which need to be 1/16". See attached document for ingredients etc.
Here is the FUN part! We desperately need your creativity to really shine through in this design! OVERALL DESIGN: We're looking for something a little whimsical but leaning toward high-end, something that might let our audience feel pampered by their purchase. Please include a scent name in your design. You can use Cherry Blossom (with pink) or Angelic (with gold). No hand-drawn fonts please. No Comic Sans (ha ha). You'll find some ideas of what we like and dislike on Pinterest boards found below. Just be sure to read the description for what it is we like/hate. OR just review the "VIEW THIS!" file attached. https://www.pinterest.com/msdeken/99designs-design-elements-i-like https://www.pinterest.com/msdeken/99designs-elements-i-hate/ POP: We'd like some sort of color pop that can be changed to coordinate with the product's color/scent. IMPACT: Our products are sold mostly online, so front panel must POP with impact in photos. GRAPHIC: We've attached a graphic that I love that was drawn for us. It could be used on the labels as a color pop, or to pull together the brand. This is up to you! (It's pretty!) LOGO: Current logo is in navy and gold. Midnight is in Hipster script. We are not married to the logo and colors (but I very much enjoy Hipster). Feel free to play with it if you'd like. COLORS: Dislike anything in the orange family, all the way to brown. FILES: We'd like the finished files to be in .ai format with the ability to make tweaks, such as colors, ingredients etc. WEB SITE: In case you want to peek: www.midnightscentworks.com
