wjrobinson11 got their new app design by running a design contest:
RedZone Mania iOS App
Check out wjrobinson11's App design contest…
A unique football pick 'em game based on the NFL season for friends and family to compete and socialize with each other.
We have uploaded graphics of the design we currently have for our web based application. We are looking for two pages to start with, the Gameboard and the Pick'em Panel. The Pick'em Panel (Pickem Panel for iOS.02) is where users pick their 5 teams they think will win every week and the Gameboard (RedZone Rivalr x6.01) is where they get to see other players' picks and who they are up against for that given week. We feel it is critical to understand how our game works in order to build the design we are looking for. Game explanation: Leagues can have up to 12 players, and each are matched up with one other player in the league each week, similar to a fantasy football bracketing system, and the winner of the match up is determined by how well each players 5 teams did that week. Each of the 5 picks has a point denomination, 250, 200, 150, 100 or 50. If the team the player picked for this slot wins the game against the spread, then he or she is awarded that denomination, if the team loses then their weekly score is deducted that denomination. A final score for the week can range from -750 to 750 depending on how the players' teams do. This score is the overall deciding score of whether that player wins his or her matchup. This score can be found on the top left of each player panel in the RZM Rivalry Board.01 image. * Each player picks five teams without knowing which teams their opponent picks. They can pick five teams from any of the games happening that NFL week, so the Pick'em Panel needs to contain all 16 games to choose from. Below this main score a secondary score called the Pick Quality score which is a score determined by how many points your picked teams actually score, and is used for settling ties in cases where users score the same number of points on the first tier. Below this in the graphic is the win loss record for that user up to that point in the season. Each pick has the team helmet and scoreboard data and we would like to fit all this data on mobile in a neat way. The backgrounds of the helmets also turn green if the team is winning and red if the team is losing in order to quickly visualize how you stand without having to look at all the game scoreboards. Also to keep this a social game we want to also show the users' images and usernames and status bubbles which can be viewed in Status Bubble.01 image. The current mobile styling we have for our Pick'em Panel can be seen in Pick'em Panel Mobile.01. This is the page where a player makes his or her picks for that week. In Pick'em Panel Mobile.02 you can see the bottom three options on this page- random, opposite and save. Once you pick a team for one of your slots, it greys out that game and disables you from picking a team from that game again. In Pickem Panel for iOS.02 you can see an alternate version that includes the helmets on the right side which we would prefer. You can find all the helmets on redzonemania.com if you click test drive, feel free to use these. Please redesign these two pages keeping all this and mind and let us know if you have any questions.
User created a league as part of the set up process or joins a public league. Once user is in a league he or she makes their picks on the pick em panel which shows the NFL schedule for that week. Once the picks are made the user is sent to the gameboard where he or she can see the other people in his or her league. Watch videos on redzonemania.com, ask for more info.
What to avoid
We want this app to be clean like fourplay and fantasy football- showing all the necessary data, but would also like to make this an app where people can socialize, so please factor the social aspect into your creative process
