Jingo App got their new app design by running a design contest:
Jingo App Map Icon Project
Check out Jingo App's App design contest…
JINGO is a social media app for action sports enthusiasts, outdoor adventurers, travelers, and general thrill-seekers. This location-based, social media, mobile application gives users the ability to find and share the best outdoor adventure and action sports hot spots from a designated location. Users gain visibility into both sponsored and commercial destinations, (i.e. skydiving, bungee jumping, paintball ranges, skate parks, amusement parks) as well as fellow user’s marked locations (neighbourhood skate spots, hiking trails, cliff jumping, rope swings, mountain bike trails etc.). Members can easily find and share their adrenaline-fueled hobbies with a network of like-minded people through pictures, videos, and testimonials, in an effort to impose validity or invalidity onto a location.
The main project right now is to continue making the map look great and intuitive from a UI/UX standpoint the icons is what we're looking change/update. So far we have 9 categories for sports which we are differentiating using the letters of the sports and 4 types of spot that would dictate color. We're open to creative interpretation to make the spot marker look better and right now only have black spots. Creating icons or vectors for inside the hexagon would be one way to do it. Sports: Skateboarding, skydiving, dirt sport, diving, rock climbing, water sport, snow sport, surf, and misc (miscellaneous.) 4 Spot types: Commercial, sponsored, normal "spot", unauthorized -probably gold commercial, sponsored gold with outline, black normal, zebra black and white for unauthorized We also need a way to denote passive vs. active or when the spot is clicked on the app. Red when clicked? We we're thinking a hexagon for the marker similar to our current logo with the bottom portion blacked out. Inspiration: Google maps, Citizen, MapFactor, Apple maps and Waze. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Updates to brief: Icons (10 categories) *Simple custom icons are requested for the following sports. Skateboarding - Skateboard Surfing - Surfboard Dirt Sport - tire with spraying dirt Winter sport - gondola or snowflake Miscellanies - Little man/person Water sport - Sail boat or wave Skydiving - Parachute Rock-climbing - Pick & Carabineer or Mountain from Logo in Zip file Scuba Diving - Scuba Mask Diving - person diving or splash We are also adding screenshots from artists who have certain features in the UI/UX that we like for the Filter, quick filter at the top, Markers & when a spot is clicked spot. The names of the files show what we're trying to point out. When a spot is clicked details we would like to show include: distance, media, likes, name and rating. Also, when a a spot is clicked just enlarging the marker. Lastly, light mode and dark mode & having the Logo and the name be at the top of the screen.
The map screen helps you find places to do action sports.
