stratt33 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Redesign tired and old car wash logo

We are an exterior express car wash. We provide an efficient and quick way for customers to drive their car through our wash tunnel, where modern equipment cleans the outside of the vehicle. Once the customer exits the tunnel, they can use free, high-powered vacuums to vacuum and clean the inside of their car. We appeal to anyone with a vehicle, are about 50/50 men and women, but some say we might appeal to "golfer dads" and "soccer moms" who have to vacuum the inside of their car frequently, and who don't have time to wait 30 minutes to get a detailed hand car wash. Our express wash takes under 3 minutes.
The car wash industry in general is very gimmicky. Lots of competitors have silly names like Quick Quack, Mister, Bubbles, Goo Goo, Zippy's, Wet Zone, Ocean Blue, iShine, Wash Tub, Scrub Bot, Pirates Cove, and ours isn't much better. I want our company to be seen as more professional and unique. I don't mind wave imagery in our logo since our name is BlueWave, but I also want something unique and don't mind moving away from wave imagery. I don't want to follow the same steps as our competitors and industry, but lead a new trend and get out ahead of them. I want to stay away from obvious imagery of cars, car parts, brushes, mops, buckets, bubbles, soaps, suds, etc. Most of our competition uses these designs and I want to veer away from them. I like the designs that are more subtle, that aren't too busy, and are more simple (we also need designs and fonts that will look good on a big sign on our buildings or stitched into our company uniforms). Our company culture is professional but also fun and teamwork oriented, and I would like to still convey professionalism but also a bit of playfulness in the logo. If you do a quick Google search of those competitors, you'll see the types of logos they use. Our full name is actually BlueWave Express Car Wash, but is almost always referred to by the public and internally as just BlueWave, and I had wanted to build the brand around that (just BlueWave). We also traditionally used lots of blue in our branding (because the name is BlueWave), but I don't mind seeing other colors. I do like what blue conveys, but acknowledge that using blues and waves is very obvious when it's literally our company name. I look forward to seeing what interpretations the designers have.
