I have some ideas, but I'm really looking for someone to show me something without looking at my crude mockups. I do have some flexible requirements (flexible in that if something doesn't fit the requirements, but blows me away, I'll accept it) that I'd like considered in the design though:
1) The logo should work well on multiple colors of backgrounds. For example, we have two products right now, where I'd like the logo to be displayed on #115211, #0B61A4, and white color backgrounds. I can change it, but ideally we want to be able to brand each product around a specific color scheme, and our logo should work just about anywhere.
2) As a way to work around #1, I am certainly open to changing the colors of the logo to work with the background it's being displayed upon. Which leads me to the next thing I'd like considered: make sure the colors in the files you send me are easy to change without a lot of effort. (e.g., I can just change the color of the text without having to use the magic select tool, like if it was a layer I could just fill, where "edu" and "things" are 2 different elements/layers)
3) One idea I had was a side-view of a kid sitting, reading a book next to the left or right edge of our company name "eduthings". It doesn't have to be a kid -- could be a character of any kind. The one I drew looked like a kid with antennae (representing the "things" part of our name).
4) My personality prefers "playful" but right now I think our clientele demands "serious." However, I think there's a medium somewhere in between, which would be a subtle playful, if that makes any sense.
Please feel free to ask me questions!
