Please review the designs from hookednation.com - this is ideally what we're trying to emulate without stealing the concept in its entirety. The attached image of the pirate skull wearing the hat is NOT what I want to see - it's too cartoonish and does not represent the brand we are working to establish. I do like the use of the big game sportfishing rod and the harpoon - please use those elements for the "cross bones".
I would like to see a natural skull used in the logo without a lower jaw. Weathered, pitted, and fierce looking is what I am looking to see.
Our target audience is MALE - age 35 - 55. These are outdoorsy people who are nautically inclined, tough, and fierce. We cater specifically to military veterans. A skull/crossbones concept that has a Navy edge would help influence the design in the direction we're going.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or for additional clarification.
This was the original art direction provided for this project - hope it helps:
The logo should reflect a skull and cross bones base (has to have the core pirate elements) but it needs to reflect something fierce, powerful, distinct, and resonant.
a natural skull with the eye sockets modified to look fierce do not include the lower jaw
looking to see something sinister (punisher style) but not over the top
Cross bones elements:
I really like how the crossed bones turn into fish hooks. I'd like to see this element used or revisited.
We had discussed the possibility of using harpoons instead of bones - maybe keep the joint at the top (like the image) and blend the bone into an old style harpoon with a rope
We had discussed the possibility of using swordfish bills - explore this concept using the entire fish but somewhat ghostly looking - must be a swordfish not marlin or sailfish
Open to suggestions on nautical elements for the cross bones - something other than a cutlass, black powder pistol, or knife
This should reflect an old style of writing but still be mostly legible. Cursive scripts are not out of the question - old english would be best
The font should be very original - appear weathered and be distinctly aggressive. Think combat squad insignia.
integration of the website URL should be very clear and bold - this should be all caps and hi vis as it will be used on all clothing and branded materials
I think we should roll with gray on black or white on black. For night time application - neon green on black (like the sword tourney logo)
This logo will be placed on grey long sleeve shirts for daytime fishing and on black longsleeves for nighttime fishing.
We will also need white t-shirts, black tshirts, and grey fitted t shirts - tactical style.
open to suggestions on color variations to maximize contrast.
The ghostly white on black from the attached logos looks good to me!
