K. Lake got their new logo design by running a design contest:
GunAnt Wants a Brand-Building, Creative Logo!
Check out K. Lake's Logo design contest…
GunAnt sells ammunition, accessories, parts, and gear for firearms. We do not sell firearms themselves. Target audience would mainly be 30+ males, however we do not want to "alienate" younger males or women with a logo that is too masculine.
Logo types to explore
I would like a logo that clearly tells consumers what we do, without being overly complicated. To me, a logo is the heart of the brand, everything else from a marketing standpoint is built around it. A relatively simple color scheme which can be implemented into a website would be great. A clean, finished look is also very important. GunAnt.com is our domain (currently not operational), and I am open to the logo showing 'GunAnt', 'Gun Ant', or 'GunAnt.com', whichever the designer feels fits best with their logo. We do naturally target a mature male audience, however the demographics of gun ownership are constantly changing to include more women and younger adults, so it is important the logo does not 'turn off' those not in the target group, and in fact, a logo which is more appealing to women & 18-30 males may provide a marketing advantage for us to those groups. Either approach could work. The logos purpose is mainly for our website, though it will appear on business cards and apparel, but the website is by far the most important application (that's where the money is made, after all). Lastly, please know I am open to anything! While I have provided guidance based on what I "think" is best, I am not a designer and I am enlisting your help and ideas because you know better than I do what can look great and what will really make our brand stand out! ***Additional note: If you choose to put a gun or guns in the logo, a couple recommendations: for rifles, using an AR-15 (yes, those "evil" guns) is recommended because they are extremely popular and there are a LOT of products sold for that rifle, probably more than any other. For handguns, 1911 pistols are also extremely popular and "relatable" for many shoppers. Please do NOT use pictures or images of actual guns - if you incorporate guns into the logo, we would like them to be outlines, drawn, or "cartoony", not actual pictures of guns.
