Transition your hair. Transform your life. Transitioning is loosely defined as passing from one state, stage or place to another. In terms of natural hair, it is the sometimes swift but often gradual process of “growing out” one’s chemically straightened hair thus allowing the natural curl to grow in and eventually take its place. Externally, this transitioning seems to focus on physical beauty. However, it’s much more than that. This movement provides women the opportunity to explore, challenge, redefine and update their individual and collective beliefs around beauty, hair and identity.
I founded NuGrowth, an online community - to assist and support black women on their journey to loving their natural hair, choosing to transition from where they are to where they want to be – naturally beautiful and glamorous, fully expressed and standing in their own truth. I inspire women of color – caramel, mocha and chocolate -- to stand in the glory of their twists, curls, and coils. I’m looking for women who want to revolutionize the standard of beauty in their own lives and for all black women and young girls.
Whether you choose to transition slowly, over a designated length of time, or are a fearless “Chopper” wanting to immediately embrace your natural tresses, NuGrowth offers you a personalized step-by-step transitioning program, which includes:
