The CVE Program got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Design new logo for international cybersecurity program.
Check out The CVE Program's Logo design contest…
The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) Program was created 20 years ago and is the de facto international standard for cybersecurity vulnerability identification and definition of publicly disclosed vulnerabilities. It is designed to be an open program that enables any organization to have access to information about publicly disclosed vulnerabilities. The CVE Program identifies and defines publicly disclosed vulnerabilities and maintains a master list (http://cve.mitre.org) which is available to the general public. The MITRE Corporation is funded by the Dept. of Homeland Security to operate the CVE program. CVE entries (AKA “CVE Identifiers," "CVE IDs," "CVE names," "CVE numbers," and "CVEs") are generated by MITRE, as well as by CVE Numbering Authorities (CNAs); the list of CNAs (which include software vendors, open source projects, coordination centers, bug bounty service providers, and research groups) is provided here. CNA participation is voluntary, and today there are 109 participating CNAs in 20 countries. The CVE Program is community-driven and free for public use. The CVE target audience is: cybersecurity researchers, global product vendors, security vendors and their customers.
