The designer thoughtfully reviewed my request and nailed it. I couldn't be more pleased.
This designer is amazing! Not only are they a talented individual, but they are also professional and attentive to every request we had. They continuously responded to several of our requests within minutes and made several comparison logos to view. It was very comforting to know you have someone paying attention like that and standing by for you.

How pdkane started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Pattern will be a site for selling fly fishing flies which I will hand craft myself. The audience is anglers (probably all men) who are looking for high-quality fishing flies. Fly Fishing is a niche sport, and is generally considered to be very old fashioned. I want to position Pattern as a modern, high quality, younger-feeling brand. Fly Fishing is about the entertainment of sport fishing, the care for the environment (no fish are killed), and escaping the city to spend time in beautiful, idyllic nature. The name "Pattern" is a play on words in fly fishing slang, as different types of fishing flies are sometimes referred to as "fly patterns", i.e. "The Slumpbuster streamer pattern is a fly that is know for catching big fish!"
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What colors do you want to see in your design?
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
1. Basically every fly fishing brand uses earth colors. Patagonia is probably the boldest brand in terms of colors, and I'd like Pattern to skew in that more modern direction. Probably the most "modern" equipment company in the business is Sage (http://www.sageflyfish.com/) and they do nice photography on the site, which is also something I will be doing.
2. My idea for the logo is to use the "r" in the word "Pattern" to represent a fly sitting on top of a tying vise in profile view (see pictures of vises here: https://www.google.de/search?q=fly+…8Q_AUIBygC.
3. The fly pattern shown could be anything. Here are a number of popular flies (http://www.orvis.com/fly-fishing-flies). I envision that I could sell merchandise over time with different flies "sitting" on top of the "r".
