How Carbon School District started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
"Carbon High School". Can also use "CHS", "Carbon Dinos" or simply a "C".
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Carbon High School is a traditional high school in Carbon County Utah. The area is best known for coal mining and its many dinosaur fossils. Thus the mascot is the "Dinos" (dinosaurs). We are looking for a "dino" logo that can be used at times with the school name and at times without.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What colors do you want to see in your design?
Other color requirements
I'd like to explore the following colors:
Blues: Knowledge, trust, calm and honesty.
Light neutrals: Purity, balance and sophistication.
Dark neutrals: Formality, mystery, exclusivity and luxury.
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
We generally use images of T-rex, raptors or other predatory dinosaurs, but are open to any intimidating looking dinosaur. We want the "dino" to look strong and fierce (suitable for athletic teams) while at the same time being respectable and professional (suitable for use on formal documents). We prefer more realistic than cartoonish. We anticipate seeing traditional team logo-style designs, but would also be very interested to see some examples of a more sophisticated look by simplifying the design and adding some realism. We would like it to be bold yet relatively simple, something that would lend itself well to being printed/embroidered on clothing or uniforms, and which would ideally look as good in gray-scale as it does in color. The school colors are royal blue, gray and white, but designers are free to experiment with different tones of these colors. We often incorporate black as well. Once a logo is selected, we hope to continue working with the designer on a one-to-one basis for other related projects (for example, to create variations of the logo for different situations such as a version that can be adapted to specific sports teams; a formal version for official documents such as diplomas; incorporate logo into a soccer crest; etc.).
