How alex.orozco started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
Sparks Basketball Club
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
This is a logo for my dad's girl's basketball teams in Chicago. He basically takes the best players from a dozen teams in Chicago, coaches them, and enters them in off-season, national tournaments— that they win. The teams are from 4th grade through high school. Many go on to play in college or return to coach. The season starts in March.
The most visual presence to the least: Sparks, Basketball Club, *We'd like versions with and without "Coach Harry's" please.
The logo must be in purple. Greys/whites/blacks may also be used.
There must be a spark image— be sure you do not use a thunder bolt. It's a spark!
- basketball/net set up but I'm open to other elements
Hesitant but open if done right:
- Silhouette of a girl
- Chicago elements

I'm also a designer. By day I work with mostly print ads and shopper designs. By night I build simple wordpress sites. I'm currently redesigning the team's site using a template I bought: http://www.sparksbasketballclub.com
The currently logo, I believe, was designed by a company through which he orders team shirts. I'm not sure what those football goal posts are doing there. And it's very flat.
The updated logo will replace the one on the site's header and likely the jerseys/warm-up shirts eventually (seen on 4th graders on 'About' page).
My dad will ultimately decide but I'll be showing him selects. I did a few shirt images for him in the past that are also too flat and not professional enough looking. Because his teams have been doing so well I think it's time for us to step it up with a better, more professional imagery.
I have a lot of projects right now and sports logos are not my specialty— that's why I'm reaching out to you all. Feel free to message with any questions.
