m.perone got their new logo design by running a design contest:
2bolt : create a logo for a machine-learning sports startup
Check out m.perone's Logo design contest…
2bolt uses machine learning and optimization algorithms to analyze sports. For bettors, we offer game predictions, and for fantasy sports players, we offer draft optimization and trade analysis.
Logo types to explore
The website is named 2bolt because of the difficulty in finding a good domain name in the sports/gambling space. We couldn't find anything that was short, memorable, and relevant, so we got a little more creative and realized that the word 'sport', reflected over the x-axis would look like '2bolt' (well, with a font that has a good curve on the lowercase l) - which was an available domain. 5 characters, can't really misspell. We were sold. Except now we need to make it clear why in the world the name is 2bolt. So we think the 'word mark' should play on this reflection idea to make it obvious. The 'pictoral mark' can get more creative. With '2' and 'bolt' in the name, there's a lot of room for imagination here. That's not the only way to go though, I also like character designs, and 2 and b/B should be able to fit together nicely in some way. Lastly, the website will be designed using the 'flat' aesthetic so popular now, i.e. we're not looking for web 2.0 gradients, shadows, lobster font, etc.. in the designs. That said, they also don't necessarily have to be 'flat' since if anything on the page is going to stick-out it should be the branding.
