Tucolex got their new logo & business card by running a design contest:
Tucker Corporate and Transactional Law needs a new logo and business card

Attorney & Law
We are a corporate law firm providing corporate and transactional legal representation. In other words, we negotiate and draft contracts, and close business transactions (for example, one company buying another company, or a bank making a large commercial loan to a business, or a venture capital fund making an investment in a startup company, or a startup requiring legal advice related to their structure and capital raising activities). Our image is high-end, corporate, and technologically advanced. We cater to two target client bases: (1) companies (from sole proprietorships to large, national corporations), and (2) other lawyers who don't have an expertise in corporate law but who would like to be able to provide corporate law services to their clients by subcontracting the work to us, rather than referring it out entirely to another firm. So, we need to appeal to two constituencies: companies and other lawyers. We are a virtual, cloud-based company.
Other color requirements
red, green, blue, gray (not all have to be used)
TECH NOTES: - The format should be print ready, vector-based pdf for the business cards (I may use one of your printing partners, but I may use Moo.com, and this is the format they require). - The file size should be 1039 x 697 (300 dpi) but must also work for a web page. - The logo must look sharp and professional both on a small printed business card and as the header on our web site. GENERAL NOTES: The image/message we're trying to convey to clients is: (1) high end, Wall Street legal expertise + (2) forward-thinking (our business model is not the traditional law firm model - again, see description section above). I like bold, simple designs with larger rather than smaller typeface. I think the part of the logo and biz card that consists of my last name ("Tucker") could be larger than the remaining words in the logo. I'm open to some axis rotation (maybe my name is vertical while the rest is horizontal? Up to you.) No cursive or difficult to read logos or typefaces: this is almost purely a word-based logo, and will not be used for mass retail distribution, so there's not much need for a symbol (like Apple's apple or Nike's "swoosh"), although I'm open to an abstract design if it's cool and simple. Lines can be used to separate words or vertically placed material. Simple is best. Easy to read. I want to be unique and stand out from the typical business card size, typography, and logo type. DESIGNS I LIKE: Some logos and designs I like can be found at the following web sites. If you find them useful as an idea of what types of stuff I like or as inspiration, great. If not, great (these are in no particular order): http://us.moo.com/design-templates/ (Please look at Petal Power, Geometricks, Sigmund Freud, Philosophy, Anyone?, and Hemiunu for best ideas) http://www.mofo.com/ http://cardobserver.com/gallery/pic http://cardobserver.com/gallery/jacob-ward http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/119038 http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/113624 http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/55320 http://tasteofink.com/gallery/logos http://tasteofink.com/gallery/logos/obsidian http://tasteofink.com/gallery/logos/aina-imagery http://tasteofink.com/gallery/logos/fiber-stream http://tasteofink.com/gallery/logos
