A clean, crisp high-resolution black and white portrait 20cm x 30cm illustration of a Brain that holds hidden, subtle images of athletes performing within it. The brain surface folds hold a distinctive and well documented visual connection to the image of a typical human brain. As the basic sample image supplied shows there doesn’t appear to be any structural normality to the rises and the ditches of the brain surface folds. So from a distance the illustrated brain should just look wrinkled like our normal expected view of a human brain. What I am looking to achieve with this illustration is this same perspective from a distance, however when you look closer at the image you begin to see a subtle aspects of different sports, athletes almost blending into themselves to form that wrinkled perspective with maybe subtle shading to bring it to life.
So maybe a diver twisting could form part of one wrinkle, or the hurdlers leg and or body another, a ballet dancers ballet shoed foot, a gymnast, a boxers glove or headgear, a dancer, a rugby player, cricketers bowling arm, baseball pitcher, racing car driver, swimmer, etc, etc any and all sports are a possibility. I want to create a unique image that, the more you look at it and the closer you look the more you see the brain of a sportsman / sportswoman. However the illustration needs to look clean and easily identifiable as a brain as it will form part of the cover of a new sports performance psychology book.
