Paul Campbell is a writer and lawyer, born and raised on a farm in North Dakota and on a lake in Minnesota. Love's Mark is his second novel. His debut novel, Love’s Will, was released in 2017. He loves writing intriguing and inspirational stories for people to enjoy as an escape from their everyday lives. The story isn’t over. Connect with him at paulryancampbell.com.
The love of his life dies during the birth of their child. Looking back, he wonders how. Looking forward, he wonders why. For Mark Ryan, it all begins in his small Minnesota lake town. But after his friends move off to college, he answers a flurry of dramatic events and his burning desire for something more by moving to California to pursue his lofty dream of a career in music. When he gets there, he falls in love with a charming local girl named Iris. After a whirlwind romance with twists and turns around each other’s skeletons, they marry and become pregnant. But when unexpected tragedy strikes during childbirth, Mark is left devastated. Facing the daunting task of being a grieving widower and single father, he also faces the fear of giving up on his dream. In the end, Mark must decide which one – if any – to hold onto.
Typically women of any age. The setting is a combination of California and Minnesota.
Book cover type
What colors do you want to see in your design?
I'm open to a wide range of ideas. But the first thing I think of is a beach theme, with potentially the ocean washing up. For example, the title can be in the ocean water, then the beach can be the rest of the cover from mid to bottom, including my author name. I have two different imagery that could be in the middle on the sand. For one, I like the idea of 3 footprints - one for a mom, one for a dad, then one for a baby/toddler. For two, a conch sea shell. Also, it does have a music component to the book, so a guitar might be cool, either floating in the water or in the middle with the imagery. I don't want it to be too cluttered. If that's too cluttered, the guitar could be in the sand on the back cover perhaps. I included a stock image of the footprints idea. For font on the title and author name, I like "Spinnaker" or something similar. I'm also open to completely random ideas too, it doesn't even have to be a beach or ocean theme. It can be hiking, a Malibu/Pacific Coast Highway type theme, a love/romantic theme, or even a single father theme.
What to avoid
My first novel had a blue sky and sunset over a lake, so I'd probably want to avoid this book from being too similar. I attached it for a reference. I'm open to all colors.
