aphroditejones got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Book Cover for RED ZONE
Check out aphroditejones's Book cover contest…
This book covers a deadly dog mauling that happened as a direct result of a "Dog O' War" breeding scheme controlled by the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang. When the victim, Diane Whipple, was attacked at the front door to her apartment in Pacific Heights, a fury gripped all of San Francisco. Upon her death, it would be discovered that these specific dogs were involved in 40 prior attacks. Even more shocking, as this book will reveal, was that the head of the Aryan Brotherhood was using his two San Francisco attorneys to help raise these dangerous dogs, Presa Canario dogs, which were sold to fellow "Brotherhood" members to guard meth and cocaine labs throughout California.
True Crime fans and people who like Dateline NBC, 48 Hours, and the ID Channel. Target audience is women age 24-54.
I envision the cover to look like this: The photo of the head of the dog, to be cropped from the attached photo, should fill most of the cover. The backdrop should should be shades of red, with large white lettering denoting the Author's name at the top and large white lettering for the title, RED ZONE. The subtitle will be in smaller white lettering. There should be shades of grey to lend depth to the cover. The dog's face should be poking through the title, with the dog's eyes beaming brightly at the reader.
What to avoid
Avoid making the cover look too literary.
