I am looking for a book cover that I can re-use with minimal changes for each of my book (swap out the photo, change the title, change the year of release). My purpose is to create a strong series look and feel. Occasionally I will also sell a book bundle and I'll probably want to change the colors for the bundle, but keep the same lay-out. I also need a full cover design for print-on-demand.
Thinking out loud here: my podcast was branded as Join Us in France (logo attached) but I also own the name Addicted to France, but haven 't done anything with it yet, I don't have a logo for it or anything. I think Addicted to France is a better name, but I am hesitant about starting over with new everything. Thoughts?
I want my cover to belong in the travel category, and that is dominated by Rick Steves and Fodor. But my guides are not going to be generic and impersonal like theirs are. I write them, I will inject much of my personality in them (which my community knows from the podcast). These are short books for the reluctant tour guide, the person who doesn't really want to be in charge, but everybody looks to them like they are. Maybe this is the person in the group who speaks some French or the one who loves French songs, I don't know. But this person doesn't know anything about the places they are visiting and they need me to tell them what to do and what to show everyone. I am here to make them look good.
I am going for humor, a little bit of a snarky remark here and there, maybe preach when it's for a good cause, and self-deprecation. All in pursuit of a great time on vacation.
My books are going to go from practical details on what there is to see and do at a particular attraction to why this place is fun and how it came to be (history) last. I am aiming for fewer than 10,000 words per book.
